Five and Dime is a bi-annual tradeshow for the Lifestyle  and Action Sports industry. This year they are celebrating a milestone: 5th year, and 10th show. To coincide with the landmark event, I was happy to get on board and develop the current branding, print promotional material, and the new website. The direction was to bring the show back to a more traditional look, professional and clean with a heavy focus on the aspects of 5 and 10. This was accomplished by incorporating images of strength and power from vintage lithographs and juxtapozing them with a simple balanced light esthetic. The contrast signifies their dominance and longevity in the industry, and their vision and forward thinking. In effort to keep up with marketing trends all aspects of the website were equipped with social media sharing facilities to link directly with the groups Facebook and Twitter accounts. The final package included: website, T-shirt design, poster design, promotional package development for vendors and retailers, onsite and offsite branding, and a complete overhaul of the organizations visual communications presence. www.five-and-dime.com

Hold Fast is a recent collaboration by Quiksilver and the Baitshop. I designed a basic T-shirt graphic, a snapback hat, and a board. Each were produced on a super limited supply. The collaboration got coverage in Color Magazine, Winter 2011 in their Anthrax section, and in Concrete Magazine, issue 115, October 2011.

I was approached by JMac at Get Faded, a top Toronto Barbershop whose clientele includes DRAKE and his entourage, about creating a signature T-shirt design for them. They provided the tagline: Low Fades and Crack Cuts to Barbershop Fiends. This design made the cut. Check out JMac’s work at www.getfaded.ca.

Action sports clothing line design for Canadian heritage brand Big Bill. This package was put together for the guys over at Big Bill for their skate clothing line. The project involved taking existing pieces from their existing product offering and revamping the look to coincide with trending colours and styles for the upcoming season. The package included several basic logo and wordmark graphic tees alongside basic cut and sew garments finished off with a small sampling of custom produced and packaged hardgoods.

The guys over at the Baitshop Skateshop were moving ahead on a print advertising campaign but wanted to do something that was a little ‘outside’ of the box, something non-traditional in the skate advertising world, something that would engage their audience and educate them about the shop and the team. This lead to the concept: Get Hooked. The whole advertising campaign started from that one simple statement.

The logo for the brand is simple, a fish hook. By interpreting their customers, consumers and followers as being fish, we went ahead and did what any good fisherman would do; bait your hook and get fishing. We started off with photographs of the team riders. The finished results were some stellar photographs taken by Toronto photographer Brendan Smyth and then laid out and put into print in all of Canada’s major national skateboard magazines.
